Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival at Paro International Airport and Drive to Thimphu
- Arrive at Paro International Airport, where NBM representatives will greet and transfer you to Thimphu (approx. 1-hour drive) with scenic views of the Paro Valley en route. After check-in and lunch at a luxury hotel, begin sightseeing:
- Tachogang Lhakhang – A historic riverside monastery built by Thangtong Gyalpo.
- National Memorial Chorten – A monument for peace and prosperity, built in memory of King Jigme.
- Tashichho Dzong – An iconic fortress housing the king’s office and Bhutanese government.
- Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 2 - Explore Thimphu and Drive Back to Paro
- After breakfast, explore key landmarks in Thimphu:
- Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Point) – Home to the world’s largest Buddha statue (169 ft) with stunning city views.
- Motithang Takin Preserve – Wildlife reserve dedicated to Bhutan’s national animal, the takin.
- Zilukha Nunnery – A peaceful monastery housing over 60 nuns, offering insight into monastic life.
- In the afternoon, drive to Paro and visit: Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong) – A majestic fortress-monastery known for its intricate woodwork and classic Bhutanese architecture.
- Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 3: Paro Sightseeing
- After breakfast, explore Paro’s top landmarks:
- Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) – Hike to Bhutan’s most iconic site, perched on a cliffside with breathtaking views. The 2–3 hour trek is challenging yet deeply rewarding.
- Kyichu Lhakhang – One of Bhutan’s oldest temples, known for its spiritual significance, ancient relics, and exquisite architecture.
- In the evening, stroll through Paro’s local market for souvenirs and cultural glimpses.
- Overnight stay in Paro.
